With the goal of providing the organization with tools to assist upper management and staff in maintaining and managing assets efficiently and cost effectively, the City of Concord, N.C., recently awarded its RFP contract to CCG/FASTER. Similarly, seeking to procure a state-of-the-art, commercial off-the-shelf fleet management information system with full implementation services to replace its existing fleet application in use for more than 15 years, the City of Pomona, Calif., awarded its RFP contract to CCG/FASTER. With a population of 161,850 and located in the eastern portion of Los Angeles County in Southern California, the City of Pomona’s Utility Services Department/Equipment Maintenance Division (EMD) has a staff of 22, including 16 mechanics, and is responsible for maintaining and managing information for 138 police vehicles, 463 non-police vehicles (including large equipment), and 192 pieces of smaller equipment.

The Division is responsible for equipment preventive maintenance and repair; fleet replacement planning; vehicle specification development, procurement and disposal; fuel and alternative fuels program administration; parts inventory management; vendor supervision; and ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws.

After several years of thoroughly considering the return on investment and benefits of installing FASTER, the City of Bakersfield, Calif., purchased FASTER. With an estimated population of 323,213, the City of Bakersfield lies near the southern tip of the San Joaquin valley and the southern tip of the Sierra Nevadas to the east. With a fleet size of 1,300, the City of Bakersfield’s Fleet Services Division is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance and repair of the city fleet vehicles and equipment. Services include scheduled preventive maintenance, welding and fabrication, diagnostic and emissions testing, auto parts warehouse and inventory functions.
