FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County government officials are trying to find another person to manage the 1,000-vehicle motor pool, saying their first choice for the $75,000-a-year job backed out, according to the Asbury Park Press. But officials aren’t saying why Frederick Orsaia declined the job shortly after a Feb. 22 resolution by the Board of Freeholders appointed him.

The position of county motor pool director is the same job that was held by Raymond O’Grady, also a former Middletown elected official, who was caught in an FBI corruption sting and convicted of accepting $8,000 in bribes. He began a 43-month prison sentence in January.

O’Grady was accused of accepting $6,000 in bribes from an undercover agent and a $2,000 bribe from a trucking company that did business with the county. The FBI investigation that caught O’Grady has been dubbed “Operation Bid Rig.” To date, it has led to charges against 24 government officials in Monmouth County.
