BERKELEY, CA – City leaders in Berkeley, Calif., announced the city’s intent to purchase a fleet of plug-in hybrid vehicles once automakers begin producing these cars commercially. According to the Bay City News Wire, Berkeley’s “soft order” for 40 plug-in hybrids is similar to Marin County’s recent decision to purchase 22 plug-in hybrid vehicles. Other cities expressing interest in the fuel-efficient vehicles are San Francisco, Alameda, and Oakland.
