LAS VEGAS – Arizona Senator John McCain will kick off The Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute (AFVI) international alternative fuels and advanced vehicle congress. The four-day event, which runs from May 7-10 at the Phoenix Convention Center, will feature more than 100 speakers with expertise in the fuels, vehicles, and technologies that offer alternatives to imported petroleum. Other activities scheduled for the convention include:

  • Sessions focusing on the business case for biodiesel, ethanol, compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, hybrids, and propane.
  • Experts addressing the financial incentives in the 2005 energy bill for purchasing vehicles and fuel, and infrastructure development.
  • An in-depth fleet tutorial for private and public fleet professionals requiring an introduction to the market.
  • More than 100 exhibitors providing a one-stop shopping marketplace for alternative fuels and vehicles.
  • A ride-n-drive featuring the latest vehicles, as well as stationery displays of new tech-nologies such as idle reduction and hybrid systems.

    The cost of the four-day congress per attendee is $549 through Mar. 24, 2006. Fleet professionals are offered a discounted rate of $399 (U.S.) per attendee.
