SEASIDE PARK, NJ – Asbury Park, N.J., will begin considering alternative fuel vehicles when it comes time for future purchases, according to the Asbury Park Press. Alternative fuel vehicles operate mostly on nonpetroleum fuels, and they are better for the air and the environment and could save a municipality thousands of dollars in fuel costs, Councilman Robert Martucci stated. Vehicles with alternative-fuel packages that the borough has been looking at include: school buses, street sweepers, Mack trucks, Ford trucks, and John Deere tractors.

A new fueling station would be needed, but they are somewhat small and carry a reimbursement from the state, according to Martucci.
