DHAKA, Bangladesh – Bangladesh´s government approved the addition of 616 vehicles to the police fleet to improve safety and decrease crime in the country, reported the Daily News Monitoring Service. According to officials, elite forces within the police department, such as the Rapid Action Battalion, Cheetah, and Cobra units, will use the vehicles to capture those involved in violent crimes. “This is to speed up mobility of police and strengthen highway patrol,” Finance and Planning Minister Saifur Rahman told reporters. “It´ll also reduce the requirement of requisitioning private vehicles.”
