FRANKLIN, NJ - Misuse of a firetruck in New Jersey´s Franklin Park neighborhood resulted in the suspension of four firefighters, reported The Star-Ledger newspaper. An $850,000 firetruck was used to move furniture from an apartment complex owned by one of the firefighters. Roy Mondi, chairman of the Franklin Fire Department District 2, told The Star-Ledger that the firefighters were also disrespectful to an onlooker who confronted them at the scene. The suspension will be in effect until April 2005, followed by a one-year probation period. Although the firefighters are all volunteers, the fire commissioners´ board felt it was necessary to penalize the men for taking advantage of taxpayers´ money, said Mondi.
