During a pilot of the Knightscope Autonomous Security Robot (ASR), the Huntington Park (Calif.) Police Department saw positive results.

For comparison, the agency shared policing data during two similar periods in the area where the ASR patrolled — between June and December 2018 before the robot was deployed, and between June and December 2019 when the robot was fully operational.

During these periods, the number of recorded entries of police activity decreased from 277 in 2018 to 249 in 2019.

2018 (before robot)    2019 (with robot)    % change
Crime Reports 48 26 46% reduction
Arrests 11 14 27% reduction
Citations Issued 120 38 68% reduction

In addition, the agency saw a 10% reduction in calls for service in the area patrolled in by the ASR.
