The Kansas Highway Patrol has requested its state legislature for $15.8 million for two new helicopters and a new airplane to replace its aging fleet and meet growing demand for assistance from police agencies across the state, Leavenworth Times reported.
KHP’s aviation operations commander said the KHP is the sole provider of airborne law enforcement in the state and helps 100 different agencies every year. The aircraft would replace a helicopter and two airplanes.
