The City of West Plains, Mo., is turning to police vehicle leasing in order to update its fleet and potentially save $40,000 a year, KY3 reported. The city council has approved a lease-purchase program for 10 new patrol cars.

The savings comes from switching from patrol cars with V-8 engines to those with more fuel-efficient 6-cylinder engines, as well as reduced maintenance costs from newer vehicles.
