Screencapture of Federal Fleet Inventory Tool for FY-2018

Federal vehicle fleet costs have increased by 6.3%, rising to $4.2 billion in FY-2018, according to the annual Federal Fleet Report from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Additionally, federal fleet inventory rose 0.6% to 644,545 vehicles. Meanwhile, miles traveled decreased 3.4% and fuel consumption has decreased by 3.9%.

Federal agencies annually report motor vehicle fleet data using the Federal Automotive Statistical Tool (FAST), a web-based reporting tool co-sponsored by GSA and the Department of Energy. The annual Federal Fleet Report publishes motor vehicle fleet inventory, cost, and use data from these annual submissions, and the resulting data tables are available in these datasets.

GSA has created a data visualization tool that enables a more robust look into the inventory and operating costs of federal vehicles. It can be accessed here.
