The City of Brownsville, Texas, and its commissioners have denied all allegations of a lawsuit over a waste removal contract. Brownsville GMS Waste Disposal sued the city and commissioners, alleging that they kept the company from winning the contract and that one commissioner did it because the company did not contribute to his election campaign, the Brownsville Herald reported.

Brownsville GMS submitted a bid and won the contract in 2016. However, commissioners rejected the contract and voted to award it to a competitor.
