Fleet FAQ? Fuel Management

Q. When do you foresee us being able to have a mobile wallet in our dashboards?

A.If someone told you 10 years ago you would be able to pay for things with your phone, or your dashboard, you wouldn’t have believed it. Fast-forward to 2019, and the technology to do that is very much here and evolving for the better.

WEX’s DriverDash is a mobile-first transaction authorization service that enables drivers to authorize a fuel transaction via mobile device and biometrics – whether that’s a fingerprint scan or facial recognition -- from within their vehicle. We’re rolling it out to some of the biggest fueling partners in the world — starting with Exxon Mobil last year and with some major acceptance announcements coming this year — and working with OEMs to get this mobile payment technology into their dashboards, as well.

We’re leading a panel presentation in Southern California at the Auto CX Conference in June titled “When the Car Becomes the Card” that examines this very exciting prospect.
