Fleet FAQ? Telematics & Fleet Tracking

Q. I think we can all agree this winter has been tough. Is there any way I can use telematics to beat the winter weather?

A. Yes, for example, Geotab’s GO device can generate a hyper-local temperature dataset to get granular data on the weather. The data is generated from readings of the ambient temperature at a vehicle’s current location, providing real-time information about weather conditions that may be affecting individual drivers.

Instead of relying on weather reports of generalized data from a fixed point, this highly localized focus on weather provides insights on the variable weather dynamics throughout the area, allowing fleets to plan alternate routes based on, for example, real, potential icing conditions on nearby bridges or roadways — helping to keep the fleet both on the road and safe during a frigid visit by Jack Frost.
