The Broward County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office has purchased new drones, bringing its fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles to 29. It began testing the drone program in September 2017, Local 10 News reported.

The drones will be used for public safety missions, including locating missing persons, search and rescue, structural fires, hazmat spills, and technical rescue calls, the Sheriff’s Office announced in a Facebook post.

The Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue have already used drones countless times since they began testing them, the news source reported. The Sheriff’s Office assured that drones are not used for surveillance.
