The R140LC-9A, R160LC-9A, and the R180LC-9A mid-size excavators from Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas, Inc., feature a Tier 4 Interim engine upgrade.

The R140LC-9A has an operating weight of 30,820 lbs. The R160LC-9A can hold up to 39,240 lbs., and the R180LC-9A has an operating weight of 41,560 lbs.

All of the 9A excavators have turbo-charged Perkins 1204E engines. The 1204E engines have fully automatic regeneration control strategies and service-free diesel particulate filters.

Operators can choose between power, standard, and economy mode. The standard and economy modes are designed for reduced fuel consumption.

Hyundai has improved the structure strength of the 9A series cabs with stronger, slimmer tubing for optimum safety. Low stress, high strength steel forms a more durable upper and lower frame. Structural integrity of these three models was tested by way of FEM (Finite Elements Method) analysis and long term durability tests.  An optional ROPS (roll over protective structure) cab can be equipped to further enhance operator safety.

The enlarged cabs on the R140/160/180LC-9A models provide excellent visibility. The newly designed cabs allow for more space, enhanced operator comfort, and a wider field view. Special attention was given to a clear, open and comfortable interior with plenty of visibility of the machine surroundings and the job at hand.
