Mac Tools now offers its OBD II TaskMobile Lite smartphone application for free for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. The app provides professionals with vocabulary definitions of diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that cause a vehicle’s check engine light to illuminate.

“It’s difficult to remember more than 5,000 diagnostic trouble codes,” said Paul Zarlengo, Mac Tools product manager for diagnostics. “The TaskMobile Lite will provide mechanics a dictionary of diagnostic trouble codes in the palm of their hands and enable pros to get the job done faster and more efficiently.”

To use, a technician enters the numerical code provided by their diagnostic scanner and hits “Check Code.” In an instant, the app will retrieve the code definition. In addition, the application keeps a running DTC history of all entered codes for translation. The app also features a reference section that includes a history of Mac Tools, critical diagnostics products for purchase via MacTools.com, frequently asked questions, and a how-to-use guide.
