Ingersoll Rand has expanded its MAX family of air tools with its new 118MAX Long Barrel and 122MAX Short Barrel Air Hammers. These new air hammers each feature a patented anti-vibration design, which reduces tool vibration by more 30-percent when compared to standard air hammers in their class, the company stated. These new air hammers are scheduled to be available in September, 2011.

Noise output is reduced by up to 3 dBA as compared to standard air hammers, and the tool has been equipped with an improved ergonomic grip to provide additional comfort during extended use. These air hammers are also capable of generating 15-percent more force per impact than standard air hammers, according to Ingersoll Rand.

Designed with high-volume fabrication and prep work in mind, these tool models feature a new quick-change retainer designed to reduce wear and allow for faster chisel changeovers. In addition, each of the tools is offered in a kit that includes a blow-molded case and 5-piece chisel set (models 118MAXK and 122MAXK).
