Fleet FAQ? Public Fleet Tracking and Telematics

Q. I’m under pressure to improve vehicle utilization. Do you have any tips how I can do that?

A. It’s imperative that you use the right metrics when evaluating fleet utilization—such as, miles traveled or hours of use per year for each unit, identifying what qualifies as a “low-utilization vehicle,” and drive time vs. on-site time vs. idle time.

Reviewing the vehicle’s job history and your fleet’s telematics or fleet management system’s ability to re-route and handle changes needed due to traffic and weather, will give you a clearer picture of how well fleet assets are being utilized.

Advanced telematics, navigation, and routing solutions are available to assist with all of these areas, and the most useful and innovative solutions will do all of them on one platform.
