The Charlottesville Fire Department in Virginia will purchase its first ambulance in more than 50 years, reported NBC29.

The ambulance will be purchased with leftover funds after a new ladder truck came in under budget. Until now, the city has relied on ambulance services from a local volunteer rescue squad, but demand has increased since the Fire Department introduced a 24-hour medic unit.

The ambulance is expected to begin service in the next 30 to 60 days. The department plans to buy additional ambulances over the next few years.
