The City of St. Louis has raised its monthly trash collection fee by $3, promising to buy more trash trucks with the additional funds. Nearly 30 of the city’s 79 vehicles are inoperable or not functioning properly, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
Aldermen who opposed to rate hike said fleet upgrades had been promised in the past, but the purchases hadn’t been prioritized.
