The City of Vista, Calif., is considering increasing ambulance fees by $650 per ride — to $1,850 — in order to add a fourth ambulance to its fleet, the San Diego Union Tribune reported. Budget cuts forced the city to cut one of its ambulances six years ago.

The higher fees wouldn’t cover the entire cost of the vehicle and services; fees are expected to bring in $500,000, but adding another ambulance and the staffing would cost about $1.1 million annually.
