General Motors is recalling 545 Chevrolet Caprice Police Pursuit vehicles (PPVs) in the 2014-2016 model years so dealers can readdress a problem related to power steering assist, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

The cars were part of a previous recall for the same issue. The connector between the electric power steering module and the torque sensor may corrode, possibly resulting in a loss of electric power steering assist.

A greater steering effort would be needed to control the vehicle if power steering assist is lost, especially at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a crash,” NHTSA warned on its website.

GM dealers will inspect the steering gear assembly and replace it if needed. There will be no charge for this service. To check whether an individual car is included in this recall, click here to search by VIN.
