Wilmington (N.C.) City Council approved $1.2M for the purchase of 45 2017 Dodge Charger Pursuit sedans at a meeting this week. The City Council resolution lists the vehicles scheduled for replacement: 45 Dodge Charger Pursuits and one Dodge Grand Caravan. Both purchases will be made through a North Carolina state contract.

The Charger Pursuit sedans will include Fleet Park Assist, all-season mats, and FCA’s new Officer Protection Package, which is offered at no cost to U.S. law enforcement agencies.

When questioned by a council member about why so many cars were being purchased at one time, fleet staff said the vehicles currently in use had reached their replacement age, WECT reported. The department has a total of 270 vehicles.
