The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR) has announced a 14% reduction of its fleet.

DNR Director Stephen McDaniel announced that 84 vehicles will be cut, beginning immediately and continuing over the next year. Cost savings is expected at nearly $500,000 along with $150,000 annual savings in fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs.

McDaniel said he doesn't expect the fleet reduction to affect the division's ability to perform tasks.

Last year, a state audit failed to identify an accurate fleet count. Since Gov. Jim Justice took office in January, several state agencies have announced cuts to their fleets, including the Division of Corrections, Division of Highways, and Department of Environmental Protection.
