A former fleet supervisor for the City of Philadelphia has been sentenced to six to 23 months of house arrest for stealing $400,000 from the city's Office of Fleet Management, reported The Philadelphia Inquirer. He was also ordered to pay restitution of $120,000 to the city.
As Fleet Management team leader, Robert Otterson approved 178 invoices for city vehicle repairs that resulted in unwarranted payments of $403,081. Otterson and two body shop owners were charged in March and Otterson pleaded guilty to bid-rigging, theft, and conspiracy in September. He will also serve 24 years' probation after his house arrest, ending when Otterson finishes paying his restitution.
