A Chattanooga, Tenn., school bus driver was arrested after a bus crash resulted in the death of six children.

The school bus carrying 37 students from Woodmore Elementary School crashed last Monday, hitting a telephone pole and a tree. Six children died and many others were hospitalized, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Driver Johnthony Walker was arrested later that day and charged with vehicular homicide.

Walker was employed by Durham School Services, which holds contracts with school districts across the country. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported that parents and students issued complaints with the bus driver in the past. Woodmore Elementary's principal also voiced concerns about the driver's speed earlier this month.

The National Transportation Safety Board announced that it has opened an investigation on the crash.
