A Sunday night fire in Montgomery County, Ind., destroyed the county Highway Department's 13 tandem trucks used to plow snow as well as two service trucks and a new supply of tires, the Journal Review reported. The cost of loss of vehicles and equipment and building damage is expected to exceed $1.5 million.
Plows were located in another building at the time of the fire. County officials are looking for replacement trucks to for plowing service this winter and are worried about availability.
The Montgomery County Highway Department maintains 844 miles of county roads, according to its website.
