A former fleet coordinator for the City of Redlands, Calif., is suing the city for discrimination and retaliation for taking leave protected by the Family and Medical Leave Act, but her former supervisor told jurors this week that she wasn't doing her job well, the Redlands Daily Facts reported.

The city claims that under Christine Smith’s watch as fleet services administrative coordinator, the fleet had unpaid invoices, purchase errors, and overdue vehicle inspections. The errors were discovered while Smith was on leave in 2012, which resulted in her demotion. She was terminated in 2015.
