The City of Simpsonville, S.C., is contracting out its refuse collection instead of replacing its aging fleet. The city’s trash trucks had reached or exceeded their life cycles, and the city faced significant capital costs for replacement, Greenville Online reported.
The city expects to save money, especially on equipment, as a result of privatizing refuse collection. This will also allow Public Works employees to concentrate on other duties.
The new contract with ACE Environmental begins Sept. 1.
