The City of Palm Springs, Calif., is conducting an investigation of its Fleet Maintenance Division following the discovery of improper activities of two former fleet employees, according to a city release.

The Police Department’s investigation centers on alleged inappropriate vehicle repairs, parts procurement, and theft and recovery of a surplus tractor. The potential value is estimated to be $10,000 to $15,000.

The director of Maintenance and Facilities discovered the issue and immediate action was taken with the Police Department to begin an investigation. Additionally, the city manager has engaged fleet consultant Mercury & Associates to conduct a thorough review.

The Police Department expects to conclude its investigation in late July.
