The Dona Ana County (N.M.) commission is looking to create a vehicle replacement plan and schedule to keep track of replacements, KRWG reported.

The county does not have an accurate count of the vehicles it owns or how many need replacement and would need to know this before creating a replacement plan.

Earlier this month, the commission rejected a proposal to create a centralized fleet department and also rejected the county manager's directive that the Sheriff's Office only use the county fleet for vehicle repairs, the Las-Cruces Sun News reported.
