Ford Motor Co. is recalling 75 2016 model-year E-350 and E-450 vehicles because the trailer braking system may fail, increasing the stopping distance, the National Highway Traffic Administration reported.

The cutaway and chassis cab vehicles in the recall are each equipped with a 6.8L engine and an optional trailer brake controller. They were manufactured from Nov. 3, 2014, to Dec. 10, 2015.

Ford dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module, free of charge, to resolve the problem.

The recall began on Feb. 15. Vehicle owners can reach Ford customer service at (866) 436-7332.

Ford’s number for this recall is 16S01. This recall supersedes a previous one (15V-710). Any vehicle repaired under the 15V-710 recall will need to be repaired again, NHTSA said.
