The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is offering $7 million in grants to commercial and government fleets to increase use of alternative fuels, the agency announced.

The agency is offering the funds under the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) program that's available to school districts, municipal authorities, political subdivisions, nonprofit entities, corporations, LLCs or partnerships.

Grants will be offered to project categories that include the use of biofuel, retrofitting vehicles to operate on alternative fuels, and installing alternative refueling infrastructure for fleet or home-based use.

The AFIG program will remain open to applications throughout the year. Applications will be accepted through the eGrants System.
