The City of Little Rock (Ark.) has delayed rolling out new patrol cars that will replace aging vehicles because the city has experienced delays in receiving equipment such as lights, sirens, and radios.

The city's Board of Directors approved a $1.5-million purchase of 33 vehicles in October, including one recruitment car that doesn't need additional equipment. The city is purchasing in-car camera systems from WatchGuard Video and mobile radio systems from Motorola Radio Systems, reports ArkansasOnline.com.

The vehicles were expected to be ready by March 1, and now no date has been set for their deployment. The city's police union has called the existing aging vehicles "death traps."
