Floyd County (Ga.) commissioners are looking toward their fleet department to close a $1.4-million budget deficit, and have discussed a utilization study and use of alternative-fuel vehicles to achieve the goal, reports Northwest Georgia News.

The general fund budget projects $48 million in expenditures and only $46.57 million in revenue. County Manager Jamie McCord hopes to add a fleet management position to help manage the more than 400 vehicles.

One commissioner suggested a targeted use of alternative-fuel vehicles as a way to save fuel.
