Sales of fleet vehicles to government agencies fell 2 percent to 21,298 in October, reversing two months of gains in a fleet segment that remains underwater for the calendar year to date, according to Automotive Fleet data.

Sales of trucks, vans, and SUVs posted a positive month and represented about one in four vehicles sold during the month. The category increased 1.6% to 16,183 units. Meanwhile, sales of passenger cars fell 13.5% to 5,115 units.

For the first 10 months of the year, fleet sales fell 5.3% to 212,137 units. The truck category has increased 6.1% to 149,360 from the comparable period of 2014. The truck category represents more than 70% of sales. Passenger car sales through October fell 32.6% to 62,777 units.
