The Cleveland City Council's safety committee asked administrators to produce a detailed report on the state of the city's emergency fleet amid concerns about the city's aging fleet.
Administrators submitted the two-page "2014 Vehicle Condition Summary" at an Oct. 28 hearing. The vehicles were scored as "good," "fair," or "poor," reports NewsNet5. The report showed 31.5% of 713 police vehicles rated as in "poor" condition, 25.5% in "fair" condition, 43% in "good" condition.
The committee chairman has asked for detailed maintenance plans, vehicle replacement plans, and information about how the city retires vehicles, including age and mileage information.
