Fort Bend County, Texas, is updating its fleet with 72 replacement vehicles and adding 21 new ones, increasing its fleet size to more than 700 vehicles, the Houston Chronicle reported.

County commissioners approved the $4.5 million purchase of vehicles that include 18 Ford Fusions and 55 Chevrolet Tahoes.

A growing population and new positions made fleet growth necessary, according to county officials. It has been working to catch up on vehicle purchasing to replace its aging fleet.
