The Chevrolet Tahoe PPV has become a popular police vehicle used by K-9 units due to its roomy interior and rear climate control system, according to General Motors.

The Tahoe PPV offers additional heating and cooling vents for dogs that are more vulnerable to heat in the vehicle's third-row-seating area that's often converted into a mobile kennel. The vents circulate cooled air in the kennel area.

"Heat exhaustion is one of the top killers of police dogs," said Michael Werges, sergeant-at-arms for the North American Police Dog Association.

In addition to K-9 use, government fleets use the Tahoe PPV for patrol, first response, tactical, HAZMAT and Border Patrol.

General Motors added a few minor features to the Tahoe PPV for 2016, including optional aluminum wheels, a track detect mode and Slate Gray exterior color.
