Spartan Motors Inc. is recalling 212 2007-2015 model-year Advantage, Diamond, Gladiator and Metro Star emergency-response vehicles because of a problem that might lead to sudden tire deflation.

These trucks and chassis – built from Jan. 18, 2007, to Feb. 9 of this year – have front-wheel valve stems that may rub against the brake caliper, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. As a result, a hole may develop that causes a tire to deflate suddenly. This problem poses a crash risk.

To resolve the issue, Spartan dealers will inspect the front wheel valve stems and replace any that have wear marks. There will be no charge for this service.

The recall is expected to begin this month. Vehicle owners can reach Spartan customer service at (517) 543-6400. Spartan’s number for this recall is 15012.
