After more than 41 years of service, University of California, Los Angeles’ Fleet & Transit Director Sherry Lewis is retiring effective July 1.

Throughout her tenure, Lewis has championed high quality service and innovation and has maintained a commitment to clean air and sustainability, providing, promoting, and supporting green options for UCLA vehicles.

Under her leadership, Fleet Services has consistently ranked among the top fleets nationwide for alternative-fuel vehicles, and Transit’s BruinBus shuttles were among the first in the nation to transition to compressed natural gas (CNG).

Lewis served on many industry boards and associations, including the NAFA Fleet Management Association, National Conference of State Fleet Administrators (NCSFA), California Transit Association (CTA), American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and the University of California’s Sustainable Transportation Committee.

Clinton Bench has been named the new fleet & transit director. Before joining UCLA, Clinton served as manager of transit service planning for the Boston Metropolitan Planning Organization and deputy executive director of planning with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
