General Motors is recalling 330,198 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD pickup trucks, as well as GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD pickups, in the 2007 and 2008 model years, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.

This truck recall campaign is part of the Takata air bag inflator recall expansion.

Dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator, free of charge. The air bag inflator, manufactured by Takata Corp., is at risk for exploding if the air bag deploys during a crash. The resulting metal fragments might strike and injure occupants of the vehicle.

The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD trucks were manufactured from Nov. 28, 2006, to Aug. 29, 2008. The GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks were manufactured from Nov. 27, 2006, to Aug. 29, 2008.

Truck owners can reach Chevrolet customer service at (800) 222-1020. The GMC customer service number is (800) 462-8782. GM’s number for this recall campaign is 15438.
