Dennis Hogan, CAFM, CPFP, fleet services manager for the City of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has announced his departure from the city. His last day is April 24.

Hogan will be joining the private sector, assuming the role of director of fleet maintenance for CRST International – Lincoln Sales and Service. He will be responsible for the company’s eight maintenance facilities through the United States, supporting a fleet of 4,300 semi-tractors and 10,000 trailers. His first day is April 27.

During his eight years at the city, Hogan designed and implemented the city’s first consolidated and centrally managed fleet, reduced fleet size by about 200 units, reduced the number of garages to three, centralized fuel stations and management, and led the organization through the worst natural disaster in the city’s history — a 2008 flood.

The City of Cedar Rapids fleet operation consists of three city-owned garages, a staff of 40, and a fleet of 800 on-road and 500 off-road units. Joy Huber will take over as interim fleet services manager.
