The Florida Forest Service is waging its war on forest fires with the help of an armored tactical vehicle that the agency acquired from the federal government through the military surplus program.

The agency, which received the vehicle about six months ago, will use the vehicle to get through sand and brush where other trucks get stuck. The truck has a higher ride, which allows it to cover ground traveling over brush, reports Highlands Today.

The truck is capable of providing water for fighting fires and hooking up to available water sources. The agency's rangers have added a water tank, hoses, tools, and other equipment.
