The Moorestown (Pa.) Police Department has decided against acquiring a military vehicle from the federal surplus program following resistance from its residents.

The agency had a deal in place to take delivery of a Navistar MaxxPro Dash through the U.S. Department of Defense's 1033 program, reports The Inquirer.

"We're not looking to militarize the police," Lt. Lee Lieber told the media outlet. The acquisition had the unanimous support of the town council.
