Cook County commissioners are moving to settle a years-long dispute with the City of Chicago over a bill for unpaid parking and traffic tickets issued to drivers of county fleet vehicles, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The county would cut a check for $41,640 to settle more than two decades worth of unpaid tickets. The settlement amount doesn't include late fees and penalties that have accrued over the years. County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has said she will go after fleet drivers to recoup the money.

The county's Department of Fleet Management has sent notices to the departments where the tickets originated to determine who was behind the wheel at the time of the violation.
