The City of Odessa (Texas) Council has approved the Police Department's $2.6 million take-home fleet program, Permian Basin 360 reported.

Only one councilwoman opposed the program, wanting set policies written down before approving it. Police say specifics are still being worked out, according to the news agency.

The program would allow the Police Department to purchase 60 Chevrolet Tahoe PPVs for patrol use and discontinue the practice of rotating each patrol vehicle among four shifts.
