Tyler County (Texas) Commissioners have approved a new agreement to upfit its Sheriff's Office vehicles with communications and GPS tracking systems.

Synovia Solutions will install tracking devices on both patrol and non-patrol vehicles by the end of this year, according to the Tyler County Booster.

Some of the uses the sheriff highlighted as being important include tracking, geofencing, and pulling diagnostic information. The system pings patrol cars every 30 seconds to provide real-time tracking, increasing to every five seconds when the lights and sirens are on, according to the company.
