The City of Des Plaines, Ill., has contracted with a company to conduct a fleet greening study in an effort to reduce fuel costs, according to Journal & Topics.

The company, Energetics Inc., is being paid $25,000 to study fleet conversion to alternative fuels, alt-fuel options, fueling station construction, cost analysis, and any potential grants.

One of the alderman supporting the study said the city could end up paying 80 cents per gallon for fuel rather than about $4 per gallon.
